Reciprocal relationship with Circulation - Assisting with Study Rooms

By now, I hope you have all learned to love Circulation as your sister department from all the times they have bailed us out by providing breaks when we are short.

Now we need to return the favor.

When a patron comes to the desk to check out a study room key and the key is overdue (by over 10 minutes), Circulation must send someone down to kick the offenders out of the room so the next group can use it.

They need a minimum of two people at the Circulation desk - one to man the Stacks entrance and one to man the desk. In the event that they are short staffed and only have the two, they will call over to Doe South to see if the 4th person can go down to the study room to ask the offending party to return their key. (By the way, the key buzzes when it is overdue, so the patron should know they are being naughty, but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt.) In the unlikely event that the patron refuses to vacate the room, go back to the Info Desk and radio for security.

By calling us, Circulation is following the same principle that we do, which is staying within our department whenever possible. In the event that we are also short staffed (no 4th), radio the Doe Rover and ask them to assist Circulation.
