UC Berkeley non-exempt employees (you) are paid on a campus-wide bi-weekly pay schedule, managed through CalTime.
What this means is that you will be paid every two weeks (every other Wednesday approximately).
Every year, campus puts out a biweekly payroll calendar (just Google "UC Berkeley Biweekly Pay Calendar" if this is out of date) which will tell you when you are getting paid.
It's a little bit difficult to read, so let's look at an example. The gray boxes mark the last day of a two-week pay period. In February, one of the pay periods runs from February 1st through 14th. The payday for that period is always the second Wednesday after the end of the pay period, illustrated by the blue box. In the example to the right, the pay period that ends on the 14th will be paid out on the 25th.
The only exceptions to this rule will be when you are a new employee. Once you have completed your new hire paperwork AND successfully swiped in for the first time, this pattern will commence. The manual timesheets cannot be entered until you have been successfully added to the system.
If you get your paycheck directly deposited into your bank account, your funds will be available on payday. It can take four to six weeks for a direct deposit request to be processed. Until it is processed, you will be issued a paper paycheck that will be mailed to your home address.
