Access to Moffitt Library Handouts

Beth Dupuis, the head of Doe and Moffitt Libraries, sent out the below email to all library staff today.

As of 11/2/16 a current UCB ID or gold UC Berkeley Library card is required for entrance to Moffitt Library.  This is a slight change; previously access included additional categories of card holders with access for some hours of the day and/or for some parts of the year (such as not during RRR/Finals Weeks).  With the addition of a second entrance to the building and the prospect of longer hours, it made most sense to create one consistent policy that applied to both Moffitt entrances year round.

To continue to best serve campus needs, Moffitt Library services are designed with the Berkeley campus community as the primary audience. These include elements such as the lending of laptops and chargers, student tech help desk, student computing lab, lockers, wellness room, makerspace, campus classrooms, and media center.  Since the reopening of the renovated upper floors, space in Moffitt Library has been in high demand and we want to continue to meet that population's need as much as possible.

Non-UC Berkeley borrowers continue to have access the Gardner (MAIN) Stacks through Doe Library’s north or south entrances during Doe Library’s hours of operations.  Non-UC Berkeley borrowers include people from other University of California campuses, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Stanford University, and holders of the blue UC Berkeley Library card (e.g. California residents and alumni). Both Doe Library entrances are ADA accessible. Please consult the library’s web site for hours.
