Scooters: Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em.

Suddenly scooters are everywhere on campus!

So here's the scoop on the scooter situation in the library.

Scooters can be brought into the library BUT they must be folded and carried at all times!

This is for several reasons:

  1. Scooters are safety hazards. They can block walkways and exits, cause someone to trip, etc.
  2. The wheels leave permanent scuff marks on the floors of our library.
  3. They can get stolen. And judging by UCPD reports, this happens very frequently!
If you see someone walking alongside their scooter, please ask that they fold and carry it. Same goes for a patron who leaves their scooter unattended (especially in walkways and crowded spaces).

This might go without saying, but riding a scooter in the library is a direct violation of our Library Code of Conduct and patrons who do this must cease immediately!

Scooters required for mobility-related disabilities are, of course, allowed.

If a patron refuses to comply, then you may escalate the situation to a library supervisor or to security.
