Grey Areas of Food and Drink Policy - Further Clarification

Everyone is aware that food and drinks are NOT allowed in the library.
However, there are some areas of this policy that are not so black and white, and lead to lots of confusion for new folks, so let's clarify!

First of all, check out this nifty Venn diagram I made, summarizing our policy on beverage containers. If a container cannot spill when tipped over AND it contains water, it can come into Doe or Main Stacks. Otherwise, offer them the usual alternatives: they can leave their food at the counter, eat it outside, or take it over to Moffitt to enjoy!

Here's some of the trickier cases:

1.) Personal carrier cups are OK-so long as they have a lid on it
(and to quote Jenna, "preferably are adorned with cat photos"...Agreed!)
2.) Loose lid coffee cups of course are NOT OK  (unless in a paper bag, staff working in building)

3.) Clear seal-able water bottles, with clear liquid OK

4.) Open cups with liquid inside NOT OK

5.) Water bottles with colored liquid and personal carrier cups with tea bag strings hanging out NOT OK
6.) Plastic bags with food visible inside = NOT OK

Remember we set-up the food diversion area at each infodesk so people have options besides bringing (nay, sneaking) in their food items.

Help them "enjoy" their food outside...

Last thing, there may be library parties where food is allowed, however party attendees CAN NOT bring food or drink outside of the designated party area.
