Shooting / Shooter *Threat* Procedure

In the event someone threatens to become an active shooter, or you hear from a patron that someone has made that threat, here's a quick procedure to follow:

Threat Made In-Person

  1. The Button:
    If someone makes a shooting threat to you or a patron, regardless if you think the threat is credible, the first thing that needs to be done is:
    ~~HIT THE PANIC BUTTON IMMEDIATELY

    This will alert UCPD without needing to call.
    Main Stacks doesn't have one due to it's location and Moffitt 3 is currently out of operation. 
  2. Contact:
    If you are safe, contact the following groups in this order:
    1. UCPD:
      911
      or
      2-3333 from a campus phone
      or Complete Emergency Number: (510) 642-3333
      (if you already hit the panic button you may call to give them more info)
    2. Security: If radioing is risky, give a phone call

  3. Stay Alert and try to make note about any information about the situation or suspect

Threat Made Over the Phone

This is a modified version of the Bomb Threat Checklist.  

If you receive a call like this, hit the "Panic" button under the desk first and foremost.

KEEP CALM: Do not get excited or excite others.
