Campus Mask Mandate Lifted - 3/7/22

Below is a memo regarding face coverings sent by the University Librarian:

On March 7, UC Berkeley’s mask mandate — which covers the libraries — is lifting for those who are fully vaccinated, a change that puts campus in alignment with guidance from the CDC, the California Department of Public Health, and city of Berkeley public health officials. Please note that indoor masking is still strongly recommended, and anyone who prefers to wear a face covering is most definitely permitted to do so.

Those who are not fully vaccinated will still be required to wear face coverings. (To be considered fully vaccinated, you must have received your primary series of COVID-19 vaccines; the booster, if eligible; and the flu vaccine.)

Per campus policy, we can politely ask others to wear masks (e.g., in meetings, shared workspaces, at public service desks), but we cannot require masking, nor can we refuse service. And we are not permitted to ask for proof of vaccination: that is on the honor system.
