New Main Stacks Responsibility -- Guarding the Hallway to Moffitt

If you are stationed at the Main Stacks Info Desk, your primary responsibility is to guard the doors that lead into the hallway connecting level C of the Stacks to Moffitt 3rd. These doors should remain shut, and you should be seated facing the Main Stacks.

This change is being implemented because people are NOT allowed into Moffitt while the building is closed for seismic upgrades and it is our duty to keep them out!

This is primarily to:

1) Ensure patron safety-- Moffitt will be an active construction site with a lot of hazards!

2) Ensure the building is well preserved for its eventual reopening.

All library services have been moved over to Doe so nobody should have a need to enter this space, but do feel free to use the above reasons if patrons question why they cannot pass through. If anyone gives you a hard time about this (including Library Staff), do let me know right away.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

• ONLY security, facilities, custodial and emergency personnel are authorized to pass through the hallway on level C of the Main Stacks. With the exception of emergency personnel, please ID check folks at the door to confirm their association with the aforementioned departments.
• This passage may be used as an emergency exit during an emergency situation (fire, earthquake, active shooter, etc.).
