Main Stacks Desk

Beginning on November 2nd, we will have another Info Desk desk inside the Main Stacks (just past the Moffitt corridor). This desk will have similar duties to the Doe desks: make eye contact, answer questions, and enforce our no food/drink policy (and other building policies, as appropriate). Although we will be sitting right next to the collection, we should still be referring Circulation questions to Circulation. We never want to guess at their policies! Circulation can answer study room questions and they have enough employees at their desk to help patrons with simple title searches in the catalog (if the patron does not have the title, however, they should be referred to the Reference desk for more in-depth assistance).

Because the Main Stacks desk will be a short distance from the collection, this desk will not have an area to hold patron's food while they are in the stacks. If we have a spill in this area, our books would still be in danger from pests lured there by the food.

Luckily, patrons will have an easy alternative because all of Moffitt will be food friendly. Before heading into the stacks, patrons may still leave their food at the Moffitt 3rd floor desk, even though we will not be enforcing the policy from this entrance.

I would also like for you all to start familiarizing yourself with the Main Stacks, if you have not done so already. I've included a link below with a color coded versions of the floor plans. Go ahead and take a look at it now. In addition to the call number, restroom, and study room locations, please note that public access computers are marked with orange boxes and you can also see the locations of scanners and printers. Wheelchair accessible public computers are located along the east side of the building. If you have questions, go ahead and put them on the "Info Desker Questions" document.
