Let me clear up a misconception, and share my expectations for those of you working shifts in which the Doe Library closes, or is closed.
After Doe closing time, when Doe has been successfully bumped by Security and they have given the "all clear", you are no longer needed in Doe Library, no one new is going to be coming in. Provided you have properly locked the doors, the only place to be after Doe is closed is MOFFITT to support the efforts at that infodesk. If you are not one of the two (2) persons working Moffit after Doe closes, I expect you to clock-out and leave; no lingering in Doe.
No one should be just sitting up at Doe after it is closed, bumped and all clear...why? Because we are not paying you to hang out in an empty building, that is silly and counter-intuitive and should NOT be happening. [Security periodically roves the Doe building after hours as part of their rounds.]
The reason I schedule a 2nd person during the post-Doe hours is expressly for there to be two (2) persons present at the Moffitt portal, to assist in the provision of breaks, to act as the eyes on the exit alarm gate for the time after Moffitt circulation closes, and as a fallback person for exceptional incident report-worthy circumstances. If you are not checking IDs at Moffitt in the primary spot, you should be facing the opposite direction watching the alarm gates, Moffitt circulation desk area and people exiting the Moffitt collection.
2nd person, you are the support, you need to be present (IN MOFFITT!), stay frosty and focused!
If I learn we are not successful in utilizing this method, I will consider just having one person for these shifts, costing some of you money, so make sure you are not lingering in Doe wasting precious Library money after we close Doe!
