Putting up Partials
1. Click on your shift
2. Click “Add shift to tradeboard”
3. Choose the option you’re looking for.
4. In the “Description” field, place that you’re giving a partial and state which times and dates you are requesting others take, like so:
PARTIAL: offering [hours you’re putting up] [month/day]
For example:
PARTIAL: offering 4:30pm-5pm 12/8
5. If you have a vital reason for the request, just like other requests, put that in the description as well; place a hyphen and then briefly state the cause.
Picking up Partials
1. You notice an open shift or trade.
2. Click on the shift
3. A pop-up with 2 options appears: “Message manager a question about this shift” and “Click here to request this shift”.
4. Press “message”
5. In the subject heading, put in the details like so:
[Name] taking partial [hours of partial] [month/day] from [student]
For example:
Phoebe taking partial 4-5pm 12/8 from Amity
If it’s an unassigned shift you can just put “from n/a”
6. You can add comments and such if you want to the body of the message, but the subject line should be enough for most cases.
7. Once done, return to the pop-up and hit “request this shift” to claim it. It will show you claiming the whole shift, but we now have a record that it’s a partial.
8. A supervisor may come in later to adjust the times of the shift you claimed, and make a new shift with the remainder left over.
9. If you’re picking it up when a supervisor isn’t on the clock, then please send an email to the listserv so everyone knows that they shouldn’t expect you to stay the whole time.
