The 10-4 Rule

I happened upon a cool article teaching a behavioral technique to improve approachability:  The 10-4 Rule.

Here's the idea.

Every time a patron is within 10 feet of you, make eye contact (every time someone enters).

Every time a patron is within 4 feet of you, verbally greet them.

Let's implement this at the Info Desks! You all know the expectation to look up at everyone who enters the door. By including a verbal greeting for everyone who approaches the desk, we can further show library users that they are our priority.
