1) Are they searching in the right spot?
The first thing to do is confirm that the patron was in fact searching in the right area. Here are the common pitfalls:- Is the book located in Main Stacks?
- Does the book say "Available"?
- Was the patron searching in the correct area?
2) Refer to Circulation or the UC Library Search Request button
If a book cannot be found, the patron can place a search on the book. There are two ways to do this - inquiring at Circulation (they will also review that the patron was looking at the correct spot and make sure the book is available) or by placing a request on the website. If placing the request through UC Library Search, the patron should look for the "Request" button and they will be prompted to choose a pick up location for the book and log in with their CalNet. They will receive an email when the book is ready for pick up.
