How to find a book using a Call Number

Found the Call# in the catalog but... what does it mean?
Call numbers are like an "address" for items in a library

How to reach LC (Library of Congress) Call Numbers
1st line = Letters (subject area)
2nd line = Numbers, read like money
3rd line = .Letter + Decimal number
Last line = Publication year

Smaller (decimal) numbers are shelved before larger (decimal numbers)
For example,

The call # in the catalog:
NC730.E34 1999

The call # on the book label:
NC -> Step 1: Find the letter(s)
730 -> Step 2: Find the Money Number
.E34 -> Step 3: Find the Letter + Decimal number
1999 -> Step 4: Find the Publication year

Then, find the call number range on the end of the stacks
Find your call number
And your book
Find similar books in the same area
